Introduction

Starting from Scratch

As interns, Hatchbridge Incubator tasked us with redesigning their existing homepage to better introduce entrepreneurs to their programming and ecosystem. Our team of two started with a rough homepage and form, and we were tasked to flesh out the website into a clean, modern, and functioning website.

Research

Understanding Startups

To understand the goals, needs, and motivations of users interacting with the website, we used card sorting and low-fidelity prototypes. We tested these with startup founders and stakeholders to learn how they perceive information and importance of Hatchbridge’s services. Participants helped us by organizing landing page sections and grouping navigation items. We used their feedback to create detailed user personas, map out user journeys, and refine our prototypes to better meet user needs.

Wirerames

Organizing Information

After gathering the behaviors and information from our research participants, our team took to building the initial wireframes for the new website. As we built, we referenced back to the ideas that had begun to form and found new, fresh ways to incorporate Hatchbridge's mission into our redesign.

Design System

Creating a Brand

Based on system requirements and user goals, we created a comprehensive design system for the HatchBridge website, including a typographic scale, color palette, icons, reusable components, and brand guidelines. We updated the copywriting and conducted photoshoots for original imagery. This work led to a high-fidelity interactive prototype that effectively showcases the new design and user experience.

My experience with Hatchbridge wasn't just about redesigning a website—it was also me introduction to startup culture. This opportunity inspired Marconi Douetts and I to launch Studio leftright. We're grateful for the experience and proud of the work we accomplished. Check out Hatchbridge's website to see the work that sparked our journey into the startup world.
